You'll get a decent number of interviews with this bidlist but I don't understand why you're bidding S&C so high and Davis Polk so low. You won't get a screener at Davis Polk and S&C could be a lot lower. I would swap it with Skadden Chi at 10 since Skadden could conceivably go before then.

Thanks for the rapid feedback. Davis Polk is low because they were going pretty early according to my advisor, and I didn't want to use up an early spot on them, so they became a "networking" bid and I'll email my materials afterwards. Your advice re S&C and Skadden being swapped is sound, so I did. Thanks!

Is there any reason why no employers are listed as interviewing on August 4th?

I am finalizing my bid list and would appreciate any suggestions. I am interested in corporate work--M&A, finance, IP transactions, healthcare, trusts and estates, restructuring, etc. I am looking forward to my SA to hone into a practice group. So, a SA with a rotating or free market system would be best. I am bidding Chicago, but I will also bid NY since my grades were not stellar. I have a 3.84, secondary journal, and moot court. I am also Native American if that helps any. Thanks in advance for all of your help! I wish I would have found this forum sooner and used it to make my bid list. If a top firm is not listed, I either already had a screener or I have one for the diversity fair. How far down my list do you think I will get screeners? I'm trying to get the most screeners possible in a lot of markets.

1. Baker CHI (20)
2. Foley (20)
3. Cahill (20)
4. Simpson NY (40)
5. Paul Hastings CHI (20)
6. Davis Polk (20)

A 3.84 is definitely better than "not stellar". You are probably in the top 10% of the class. In terms of the bidlist you are definitely risking not getting Skadden, Latham Chicago. If you are truly leaning Chicago all of the firms at the bottom - Katten, Schiff, Ropes, Proskauer, etc. are wasted. Not sure why those are at the bottom and you'd prefer Baker & Foley but that's a preference thing I guess.

The outgoing EIC made a big push to increase the amount of people on law review to speed up the production schedule and spread the work out a little more. It's a good thing because it gives more people the credential and it helps with the push for more diversity on law review. The class that just graduated was the last class that was that small.

I have a pre-OCI offer from a firm's NY office and have a screener with their DC office during OCI. Will the DC office know/find out and would it be an issue? (It's not Latham, as I've read they do have problems with stuff like that.)

If I didn't get an interview with a firm, should I send them my materials now or wait to see if I can get a day of/ waitlist interview?

Recruiter calls you. Got my call ~40 mins after interview. I think they make decisions on the spot and email it off to the recruiter before the next interviewee goes in.

does anyone else know more about Milbank? If we didn't receive a phone call soon after our interview does that mean no callback?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
