Another west coast lit boutique associate here clocking in at around 950 as of this weekend. Vacationed for part or January so that was a low month, but its been batshit since. (Also not including any admin/internal firm affairs/business development in those hours)Anonymous User wrote:(940 wc lit boutique guy above): I included pro bono, but firm doesn't track other non-billables like biz dev/helping with SAs/admin shit/etc at all, so not included by default.Anonymous User wrote:Um, dumb question, but are these billables or just how many hours you've billed total?
(do other peoples' firms make people enter/track those because i feel like i'd be simultaneously way more annoyed at having to keep track of that shit, but also would feel better about those days where you're at the office til like 9 but only billed 3/4h because lots of nonbillable bullshit piled up if i knew someone was counting it)

Right there with you. Disclaimer, I'm a first year and have no billables requirement at my firm. I've been told not to worry since 1400-1500 is normal for first years at my firm, and the second half of the year will be gangbusters. Guess we'll have to wait and see.Anonymous User wrote:500. Re: Hours Check
The truth is you have less control over your hours than a lot of people (including partners)?care to admit. As long as you're not avoiding work you're very likely fine. It takes time to get traction and honestly sometimes it's easier to just not deal with first years.Anonymous User wrote:500. Am I going to lose my job? In House:
We don't keep track of "billable" hours, but we are required to keep track of our time spent on a specific matter (metrics).
From January 1 - May 12 of 2017 I am at: 629.00
My 2016 total was 1,566.80

There just isn't much. It's been generally slow. Luck of the draw, also. The deals I've been staffed on have either died or aren't moving. I've asked around, might get a small thing here or there. But that's all. It could take off at any time, though, which is what I'm banking on.skers wrote:Prob a good idea to really push for things to do.LaLiLuLeLo wrote:Nope, just haven't gotten much to do.Anonymous User wrote:Are you trying to quit soon or something.LaLiLuLeLo wrote:Just over 200. Slow January, picked up Feb-March (March was hell), slow again in April, picking back up this month.

Re: Hours Check
1st year here: 981 including pro-bono; 1,143 including the admin stuff we get credit for. Secondary market big-law. not complaining, tend to not work on the weekends and leave work at 5 to do what I need to from home or the pool-deck at my apartment. That said, about 10% of my fees have been charged-off or discounted so that's not too pretty to look at, but I guess that's the way things go now. I'm not overly concerned, already looking for exit ops just b/c.
