What are some examples of admin and client development stuff that some of you guys' firms count? I get pro bono and client dinners, but I'm not sure what else that would be (probably because I'm at a small firm).
My biggest non-billable that gets "counted" (not in terms of $$$ but in terms of hours at least) are professional lunches/dinners (e.g. bar association lunches, or big pro bono or "annual xxxx night" dinners that firm sponsors, that kind of stuff), and writing/publishing articles and the like. At a small firm you just need to know what the partners value and that will probably get counted to some extent. Obviously no one will want you to put in 500 hours a year on pro bono or writing articles or going to lunches/dinners on the firm's dime, instead of billing and making money for the firm for those same 500 hours, but atty/business development is something some firms do value

Are you trying to quit soon or something.
Nope, just haven't gotten much to do.
Prob a good idea to really push for things to do.
There just isn't much. It's been generally slow. Luck of the draw, also. The deals I'vel been staffed on have either died or aren't moving. I've asked around, might get a small thing here or there. But that's all. It could take off at any time, though, which is what I'm banking on.
To do what?
To not get fired for having insanely low hours.
I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't make my bonus as a first year and it's not uncommon. Law students should probably not consider bonuses when budgeting because it's such a crapshoot as a junior. Almost completely out of your control.

NY corporate ~600 (including a 300 hour month). It's a weird place, big law.

Chicago non-lit mid-level lateral:

670 at five months. I'll take it given the slow ramp-up period, but I'm going to have some work to do in the second half of the fiscal year.
