If you are at a biz casual firm, I'd say two, though you can probably get away with one.Hikikomorist wrote:Seriously, though, what's the bare minimum for number of suits?buckiguy_sucks wrote:tag looking forward to having some hot discussions in here about how many suits to own and how not to gain weight

I'll be sporting 4: Charcoal gray, Navy blue, black, and light blue
Also, casual Fridays, so a sports coat with chinos

Any thoughts on Jos. A. Bank suits? They usually have some good sales.

I'd say spend a bit more and go to Suit Supply, which are all high quality Italian fabrics with great modern fits. Nordstrom has sales where Hugo suits are under 500. But I agree Jos Bank sales are pretty insane (buy 1, get 4 free, 10 shirts, etc lol)zaetoroftheprotoss wrote:Any thoughts on Jos. A. Bank suits? They usually have some good sales.

Re: Summer Associate Class of 2017
For anyone summering in LA, you need one suit, if that (two if you include bathing suit).
Wear it your first day (unless they specifically tell you not to, which many firms will).
Then bring it with you on your second day and leave it in your office. There might be a client lunch where it will be nice to have a jacket. Or if a partner takes you to the California Club or the Jonathan Club.
Other than that, no need.
Edit: I do corporate, so we never go to court (and never, ever do we wear ties). If you have a litigation rotation, obviously you might go to a depo or court. But I stand by my suggestion that you only need one suit and you can leave it in your office. Save your money for your bar trip.

FWIW I think they still do that in stores. At least they were still doing it in December.SmokeytheBear wrote:You won.Dr. Nefario wrote: When I bought em they did $350 for shoes, matching belt, and trees

Thanks guys for reminding me to closely check shoe quality and variation of suits for the incoming Summers. It's a whole section on our summer associate evaluation sheet.
