Does anyone have any knowledge of how often a firm's "job opportunities" page is updated? If the job is still up, does that mean it's not filled?
Just looking for a general answer.

I'm not in HR or recruiting, but having been through the process myself recently, I can tell you that just because the posting is up doesn't mean there really is an active search for someone to fill the position.michaelscotch99 wrote:Does anyone have any knowledge of how often a firm's "job opportunities" page is updated? I had an alum partner fw my resume for a position at a V50 firm, only to get a few updates from HR letting me know that they were re-assessing their needs... job posting was taken down several months later and as far as I can tell they didn't hire someone for the posting.

I know a number of firms that specifically make postings, or leave postings up, even when they have no openings. I've been told this is so they "look busy" or "look competitive" to others.

I'm the first anon poster, and during my job search I heard this as well from a senior associate at a V20.Anonymous User wrote:michaelscotch99 wrote:Does anyone have any knowledge of how often a firm's "job opportunities" page is updated? If the job is still up, does that mean it's not filled?
