1L job search C/O 2019
Saw the most recent entries into C/O 2018, thought the current 1L class could share info.
1L at lower T14, gone through several screeners and one CB, still waiting on results.
My CB was in a secondary home market, non diversity position.
ITT, include any/all of the following:
1) type of market
2) type of position
3) level of interview
4) general impressions from the interview

1L at a T20. Will be interning with a federal district court judge in a flyover. Interview was very casual.

Re: 1L job search C/O 2019
OP here.
Done screeners at a mixture of major/secondary markets. I have a unique background (think tax, IP, previous firm experience).
My only CB was based off my background, no grades received. It was in the market I grew up in.
The interviews went really well. Sounds like there are limited spots, but fit seems to matter much more in that secondary market than grades/pedigree. I don't want to misrepresent here, but it was just the impression I got.

Has anybody interviewed with Skadden NYC for their 1L Scholars Program this cycle or previous cycles? I'm wondering what your experience was like and what the decision timeline looks like.

I know someone who interviewed with Latham Chi. But I think this person was an exception and the interviewer said that the interview was unusually early. No one else at my school has heard anything.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone received an interview invite at Latham?

There's overlap with another thread about diversity SAs, I think this person posted his school range in there. Also, has anyone heard from Katten/Norton Rose Fulbright/Baker & McKenzie?candidlatke wrote:School bracket/rank?Anonymous User wrote:Dinged, LA Cooley, MofoAnonymous User wrote:BakerHostetler LA ding (snail mail but hand signed so I'm still special right?!)Itiswritten wrote:In

Paul Hastings' application deadline is the last day of February, that's so late.

Have not heard from NRF or Baker & McKenzie. I'm in Texas though so you might be talking about other offices. Lots of other firms in TX have already made moves and extended offers; makes me nervous.Anonymous User wrote:There's overlap with another thread about diversity SAs, I think this person posted his school range in there. Top 10% (just below 5%) at T20
No interviews so far.
One OCI interview upcoming (intern in the clerk's office of a federal appeals court).
One offer from a boutique firm after a conversation at a job fair and email resume/grades.
Only other applications are USAO (haven't seen yet if I'll get an interview) and a public interest firm with offices in DC.
Most likely, I'll take the boutique firm, but I'll interview for the appeals court.

School: Top 50
Market: Houston
Class rank: Top 10%
Interviews: 4
Dinged: Baker Mckenzie and Winstead
Pending: 21
If I don't hear back relatively soon, I'll start targeting small to mid-sized firms. I need to get paid for at least half my summer and may try to nab a state district judge here as well for the second half.
