To add just a bit more nuance. This will obviously depend on your practice area preferences. But I’d go:
T1:
Keker
Munger
Altshuler
Durie
^^ These firms basically require top grades and clerkship.
T2:
Boies
Gibson (esp. for antitrust)
Latham (esp. for antitrust)
Weil (for patent work)
Orrick (for white collar and appellate)
Covington (esp. for patent work)
Quinn
T3:
MoFo
The SV litigation departments of the major NY firms.
The SV litigation departments of the major SV firms.
On the plaintiff side, there are some fun options in/around SF. Look at Edelson. Tensegrity also does good work, mainly IP. Also, Lieff Cabraser has a big office here.
