Not a bad sounding gig at all.

So I'm working at a ~100 lawyer firm in Philly region, but not downtown, this summer. Can't find any information on salary at the firm but I'm getting a little over 1k/week. Praying that is not indicative of the starting salary (ie ~60k/yr). What is the general consensus for a firm of that size in that region paying for first year associates? 100-120? Thanks.

It truly depends on the practice areas. If you want to PM me and give the name of the firm, I'll hold that in confidence and tell you what you can expect to make. I'm a lawyer for too long to care about outing anyone on the internetZ.

Ironically, the more you get paid as a PD, the fewer cases you have. Something to do with living in a jurisdiction that actually views indigent defense as a worthwhile expenditure rather than a waste of money required by pointy-headed liberals in Washington. I really wanted to do PD work when I came out of law school, but the ridiculous wages and caseloads made it clear that in the places I lived, they don't want attorneys doing PD work unless they are irrationally motivated. The places where it's a 40ish hour week and you get paid like an actual professional are great though.

Patent law boutique
1st year
Deep south
$180k

Some of the boutique firms around here are offering above market now; from what I hear, it's getting difficult for them to compete with big firms at hiring grads with specific technical backgrounds.

4) $100k, eligible for bonus and salary raise every November
5) Billable hours ~1750 (but it seems pretty flexible)
6) M-F, 9ish to 6:30ish

I'd like to know more about what law school you attended and what your technical background was.

i'd be more interested in which firm it is because its extremely difficult to find accurate salary information for patent boutiques

Is it true that certain firms will offer to pay off your law school loans if you commit to working for them for a certain amount of time? If so, how does one negotiate this? Thanks.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
