I earned an extra $380 this paycheck, post-tax and post-401k (which I should probably change actually). So $760 a month. Second year nyc.

I earned an additional $498 this pay period ― call it close to $1k a month. Perhaps the difference is because I am in the south, thus no NY and NYC taxes.

Manatt has never come close to paying market. It's not going to start now.

As for Jenner and Block, I've heard of the firm and seen its name on things, but I've never met a lawyer who works there. I am beginning to suspect that "Jenner and Block" doesn't actually exist; it's just an elaborate flame.

Has Perkins Coie still not matched? I seriously considered their Silicon Valley office -- I thought they were as legit as a non-native Bay Area firm could be there. I guess I dodged that bullet.

Hearing from a summer that they have (including retroactively). I don't think smaller markets got bumped to $180k, but they definitely got bumped as well.

I think in SV they have matched years 1-4 with bands of pay thereafter. In Seattle they for sure bumped everyone 20k but there are bands starting year 3 for the 1850 track (so starting 165k). For 1950, I think they matched years 1-2 with bands thereafter.

Everyone gets paid retroactive to July 1st (summers included).

Watching all these people wondering if ManaTTT will match is like watching your friend lament over and over again about their unhappy relationship, wondering if s/he will change now that they're married. Maybe he'll stop going out to party so much. Maybe he'll stop yelling at me. Maybe he'll start picking up after himself.

Oh, honey. He's been this way his entire life - why would he change now?

H&K matched this morning, at least first two years. Boston, Stamford, New York, Mid-Atlantic, Chicago, Dallas and California.

Hunton & Williams matched in NYC, DC, McLean, CA, and TX. However, it looks like it got rid of lockstep for everyone? Interesting to see how this will play out.

They reimburse all moving/bar expenses, PLUS give you $13,333 cash that you do not have to pay back. They also give first years stub bonuses. And you can take up to 2 months 0 interest salary advance, if you want.

Yes, $13,333 used to be equal to one months salary, but I don't think they ever represented it to be tied to the salary scale. Regardless, they are WAY above market in doing this, no real reason to increase it $1600.
important to note that if you do a clerkship (like most of my gdc summer class did), gibson dunn just advances you that "stipend" OUT of your clerkship bonus. they also don't pay an additional bonus for a second clerkship.

huge slap in the face to their most qualified incoming associates, and a big part of why i bailed on GDC after my summer. they have no business keeping up their clerk-level gpa requirements if they impose a 13k penalty for clerking.
nvm.

Wait, Gibson really doesn't pay a second bonus for a second clerkship? That can't be right can it? That would make them incredibly non competitive for clerks

apparently they've changed their policy to pay 70k for two clerkships. munger has as well. appears to be recently/post when i was looking at firms as a 2L, at which time each firm told me they pay 50k for two years. possibly quinn's 75k bonus pressured them to increase, not really sure.

latham has routinely paid 70k for two clerkships for a while, but at least in one of their offices, i've heard from friends that they actively try to talk you into not taking a second year of class credit for your second clerkship (like somehow taking the second year of credit will get you in over your head, i.e. they wouldn't treat you as a first year associate---which is of course how firms that attract more clerks routinely treat you). complete garbage attempt to dock your pay, after i heard that, wasn't really interested in latham (even apart from the whole latham'ing thing). any firm that expects a clerkship or two to prepare an atty to practice as a 2nd or 3rd year biglaw associate has either (a) rarely hired clerks, who know nothing practical to biglaw (with the possible exception of magistrate clerks), or (b) is lying to you.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
