All ADA offices get health insurance as NYC employees. I'm unaware of any special arrangements that Bronx (or other offices) have. Of course, you can deduct more from your salary to get better coverage, but I'm certain that basic health insurance is available in each office.Anonymous User wrote:Any idea whether free health insurance is something that ADAs at all the NYC offices enjoy, or is this just Bronx?Anonymous User wrote:Free health insurance, not including prescription coverage. As a first year ADA you get 15 days vacation. Each year in the office you get 5 more days until a max of 25 days per year. You pretty much have to take a week in December around the holidays and a week in the summer unless you're saving them for some reason (baby on the way, honeymoon, etc). If you're starting in Criminal Court you get a comp day for every weekend that you work. These can be used any time. I'm not sure if this will continue once they finalize the transition to vertical prosecution. A lot is changing in the office.Anonymous User wrote:Can anyone speak about the benefits package, specifically vacation time, in the Bronx or anywhere else?

Second anon. Thanks for the reply. Since ADAs have modest salaries it's nice to know I won't be too burdened by health insurance.encore1101 wrote:All ADA offices get health insurance as NYC employees. is more than half of DANY's class typically made up of t14ers? From the fb group + who I know that's not on fb, a whole lot of t14. i wonder if its just because this is a bigger class

I don't remember it being overwhelmingly T-14 when I interned there - I also got the distinct impression that no one cares where anyone else went to law school after the initial awkward small talk getting to know you questions.Anonymous User wrote:is more than half of DANY's class typically made up of t14ers? The members of the FB group are also probably a function of people already knowing each other . . . one person from a T-14 joins, adds all the other people they know going there.

Heard from ASAs that calls were going to go out last Friday, but to my knowledge nobody got the call. Does anyone know when calls are coming out?

For my Bronx peeps, when have you made your appointments to come in? I've just finished 3L finals and need to gather paperwork for it (diploma? SSCard?). Been putting off calling HR until I get it all sorted. Am I the only one who hasn't reached out yet after getting my packet?

My friend just received the offer call from Cook County. The 1st assistant called him at about 2PM ET. He worked there both summers, from top 30 law school, strong connections in Chicago.
I'm still waiting...

Re: District Attorney Offices 2016
There were five offers extended to people I go to school with. All of us have clerked there for over a year. A buddy of mine, who also did not receive a call, heard from his boss that due to the budget impasse in IL, the CCSAO had to cut the ENTIRE child support enforcement division. If IL can get its shit together, things could open up. Plus with Anita Alvarez leaving the office, there could be a lot of openings from the exodus that happens when a new State's Attorney is elected. Maybe I'm just trying to stay positive but I'm hoping the waitlist moves along and that I am on it.

Any other incoming Brooklyn ADAs aware of a Facebook group, listserv, etc? It would be nice to get to know some of the incoming class before we start! Feel free to go ahead and PM me too!
