Those two no-offers were in NYC, not in Charlotte or DC. They were also extremely unique cases.

Different anon here. I just wish we had proof of some sort. Like old NALP forms or something. Getting no-offered scares the hell out of me.Anonymous User wrote:Those two no-offers were in NYC, not in Charlotte or DC. They were also extremely unique cases.
If I could see that they have like a five or so year running track record of 100% offers, that'd be awesome.

No it isn't. These COL calculators are hilariously and notoriously wrong.Anonymous User wrote:FWIW, 160k in Charlotte is equivalent to $371,982 in Manhattan.

One example:
Transportation costs in Charlotte are 22% less than in NY? Lol ok. NYers spend a little over $100 per month on an unlimited subway pass and don't pay monthly car payments or auto insurance payments.

I for one am curious to hear if it's as bad as I hear it is in Charlotte. Feel free to PM me.Anonymous User wrote:2014 SA here. I'm happy to answer any questions/concerns any of you may have. For those of you with offers, I can PM you if you post non-anon or you can let a member of the recruiting committee know you want to talk to a previous SA and they will provide contact info.

I've got an offer (different anon than the other two in this thread who said they also have offers). Thanks for posting! I'm really close to accepting, but I share the concerns discussed earlier regarding past offer rates at the office. Can you shed any light on that?Anonymous User wrote:2014 SA here. Are you referring to the city or the office?NinerFan wrote:I for one am curious to hear if it's as bad as I hear it is in Charlotte. Feel free to PM me.Anonymous User wrote:2014 SA here. I'm an associate at a big law firm in Charlotte and have met some incredibly miserable associates working there.

A word of caution:
I heard that the environment in the Charlotte office was not very healthy. It seemed that many junior associates there are not happy with their work. No reason was offered.
Since the above is a hearsay, take it with a grain of salt. Good luck!

It's a small office, so it's hard to get people to give specifics because they fear it getting back to them.Anonymous User wrote:What bad stories have you heard about the office?
This is hearsay so take it as you will, but I heard that most of their classes don't make it far beyond the first year. They stay for the first year to avoid having to pay the firm back for any relocation expenses or bar expenses etc, and then jump ship ASAP.
For example, the class of 2012 (would be second years now) is apparently all gone.

Would any current or past SA's/Associates mind describing the Charlotte office culture?
Edit: Just read the last few posts. That's scary. Any other stories? Interested in any and all other information.
