Thanks for the heads up and Confirmed: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversig ... nt-status/

DC Fed employees granted 2 hour early departure.

You don't think that they had enough time to make all the calls today?
They are calling around 50-60 people. That’s going to take more than one day, even if it were a full day.

Federal government is opening 3 hours late this morning, again due to weather.

Haha, that explains the easiest commute of the year this morning. Thanks for the update. Clear skies the rest of the day, fingers crossed.

Does using my office phone to check that my cell was actually working count?

Otherwise, nothing yet. :? :? :? If you allow for the 3-hour delay and the lunch hour right when getting there, they should only be about two hours into calls today, if they are even calling yet. I'm waiting to jump at my phone and scream at the caller when it turns out to be a spam call selling something. Haha

I was way too anxious and I called the office today. :?
I spoke with Ms. McGarth briefly.
I was told that “decisions had not been made” which contradicts the great news we learned of earlier this week with someone getting accepted already.
I’m unsure if that was just their way of saying “you didn’t make it” or they were just generalizing the entire process. Hopefully the latter.

Thanks for the update, that's some temporary peace of mind. Possibly, our first "Hired" was trolling as there hasn't been anyone else posting the same. Everyone grab your Shenanigan Brooms, just in case.

Or the person lied about being hired. Unfortunately we don't have much, if any information to go on. The managing attorney I spoke with after the interview said they will be reaching out to everyone, positive or negative, hopefully by the end of the month, beginning of Feb. So at this point it's just a waiting game until the calls come in, but my guess would be end of this week or beginning of next.

Let's face it. Decisions have been made, they just need to pass through HR now. They knew if you would be picked within 20 minutes of you leaving the room. There is no way that they could keep everyone straight and remember your interview much longer than that...

I second the trolling idea. It would be a little unusual for the PTO to notify someone they were going to check references but that a hiring notice had already been sent out. Not totally impossible, but definitely unusual given PTO’s history, as I believe in the past they have explicitly told people “we’d like to check your references but this is not an official offer yet.”

If this is true, this is literally the second time this has happened to me on this site... Back when I was waiting on law school acceptances someone lied and said the admissions dean personally called her at like 10 PM on a Friday or something. Then everyone was freaking out all weekend until we finally got some updates. Lol.

Additionally, the contention of the proclaimed hiree of being informed that the uspto "sent out official hiring notice to [her/his] residence" would be very unusual given, at least according to this forum, that the uspto has not in the past communicated via snail mail with respect to the hiring process.

Interesting thread. Good luck everyone! I'm sure that they had a really hard time deciding since there were clearly some phenomenal candidates! Wow!

It has its moments. It's been very informative and supportive during the initial parts of the cycles, but starts to devolve into Lord of Flies once the decisions are still pending past the threshold of time that is considered conscionable for such transition efforts. Hahaga

Still, I would not wanted to have done these applications without this group. Ya'll been great!

To pass the time while we wait, I thought I’d poll those of us who applied this round so we can get to know each other a little (albeit probably anonymously):

1. Are you local?
2. How many hiring cycles have you been through for this position?
3. Are you applying for a position as a law clerk or an attorney-advisor?

I’ll start off- I’m local to the DC area, it’s my first time applying, and I applied for a position as an attorney-advisor.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we won’t hear anything today. The chance that they’d start making calls on a Friday and then continue into next week seems pretty low. Everyone enjoy the weekend (and the Super Bowl, if you plan on watching) and try to relax!

You were right! Since you are basically an oracle can you predict when you think we will start hearing back?
