Re: Attorney Advisor (Trademark Examining Attorney) for USPTO
So are we assuming only those in the January class have had their references contacted? Mine were contacted before the new year, but I have not heard anything from HR, but I was also not told which class I was being considered for.

12/14 person here. I would have to assume that, if our references were contacted but we haven't heard anything, we will be a later class. Otherwise, HR would really be rushing people.Anonymous User wrote:So are we assuming only those in the January class have had their references contacted? This was my assumption as well (another 12/14 person). I just want to know now!

You should ask HR/USPTO which class you are being considered for instead of having to guess. I was contacted 2 weeks ago and was told that I was being considered for the March class. I haven't heard anything as to whether my references were contacted, so I'm assuming not yet. I'm expecting the pto is trying to rush to get all the January hires completed before moving onto other classes. I'm thinking the March class should hear back at least by end of January.

My references for the May class were all contacted the week before Christmas. Maybe different managers are going about it differently?Anonymous User wrote:So are we assuming only those in the January class have had their references contacted? I called the number above, they said they don't know or have a way to know who is taking care of an individual's case. Probably have to call the person who asked to contact your references.

The number above is for the generic HR office at the USPTO. You should try contacting the HR person who was listed on the job announcement. I've called 2 HR specialists specific to the Trademark office (one of them was on the job announcement), but have had no luck reaching anyone at all this week. My guess is that they are still out.

571 272 7170 is the number on the USAJOBS posting. I've called it twice this morning, but only gotten her voicemail.

All initial offers have been extended. Better luck next time, I'm sure it's what we predicted at this point anyways. Good news is a lot more jobs popping on on USAJOBS after a bit of a lull.

Who told you that? And did they say that it was for the January class? I called the person listed on the interview email earlier today and she said they've only finished the January class so far (she said the holidays pushed things back) and they are still making selections for the March and May classes.Anonymous User wrote:All initial offers have been extended. All firm offers for January and soft offers for the other classes. Unless anyone declines, it looks like the spaces for this round are filled at this point. I appreciate that I was able to get some feedback, it's better to know and plan accordingly.

Thank you for this information. Who told you? Was it the HR person listed on the initial job posting?Anonymous User wrote:All firm offers for January and soft offers for the other classes. Can anyone else confirm this? Specifically the people who were asked for consent to contact their references. My references were contacted, but I have not heard anything from HR. I am not able to call right now since I am at work, but any clarity on the above would be nice.

I'm not sure why the person listed on the email told me they were still considering people for the March and May classes. I'm curious about who the poster above got this information from.Anonymous User wrote:Can anyone else confirm this? Specifically the people who were asked for consent to contact their references. Wait, so what is a "firm offer" versus a "soft offer"?Anonymous User wrote:All firm offers for January and soft offers for the other classes. Has anyone that is not starting in January received a final offer yet? It seems to me they are squaring away the final offers for the January class but I’m wondering if there’s been any other movement... I’m one of the people who were contacted 12/14 for reference check for May start but haven’t heard anything else yet.

This makes me glad to see. I was also contacted 12/14 and have not heard anything yet. I plan on calling one of the numbers listed on the interview email later today.

It sounds like several people have not yet heard anything aside from a reference check inquiry. Poster above, where did you hear that all soft offers had gone out for the other classes?Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone that is not starting in January received a final offer yet? Re: Attorney Advisor (Trademark Examining Attorney) for USPTO
One of the 12/14 posters again. I just called and talked to one of the people on the interview email. She told me that if my references were contacted that I "got the good news". She wouldn't tell me what class I'm in, just that I'm "not in January".
She wasn't being very forthcoming (it felt like this was a repeat conversation for her), so I asked it was just a matter of sitting and being patient and she said yes.
Not sure where in the process the poster(s) above was, or where they were getting their info, but for those of us who had our references contacted and have not heard anything else since then, take a deep breath, seems like we will be getting our calls soon.

Ok this is a huge relief (I hope). Thanks for calling and letting us know. Fingers crossed for next week.Anonymous User wrote:One of the 12/14 posters again. Yes, the post was meant to be informative for people who never got any offer.
As stated many times throughout this thread, if you got a request to call your references, you basically have the job. They are just finalizing things. Relax and enjoy the great news, congrats!

Re: Attorney Advisor (Trademark Examining Attorney) for USPTO
What does this mean for those of us who have heard nothing whatsoever about reference checks?
I have not yet heard anything about reference checks, but the person I called today (she was listed on the interview email) said that selections had not been completely made yet and that they were still considering the March and May classes. I specifically asked her if that meant that people who haven't received reference checks inquiries yet were still in the running and she said yes. I also tried calling HR, but they don't seem to be in the office. I would just like to know who said all offers (soft and firm) have been made. I just want closure at this point (even if it's a rejection, which is looking most probable), but it's hard to have closure when I am getting conflicting info on this forum and from the person listed on the interview email.
