I am starting this thread for individuals who may have applied for the recent U.S.P.T.O. posting for trademark examining attorneys. My understanding is that they had 800 applicants for about 30 positions, so I hope this forum will provide discussion for how folks think they did in the application phase, interviews (first and second) and offers-timeline.

I had my second interview two weeks ago. It's my understanding that applicants are supposed to hear back some time in early February, but I haven't heard anything since my second interview.

Second poster here. I'm curious to see if anybody has heard anything back re: an offer or a rejection. Also, does anybody know WHEN in March the first group of hirees is supposed to start? If it's at the beginning of the month, I imagine we should be notified of decisions pretty soon.

I interviewed in January and heard back February 6. I was told I should be in the second class, contingent on my references and background checking out-- I have not received a formal offer yet though from HR.

I exchanged contact info with a guy that interviewed when I did. He heard back the same day I did that he was selected for the first class. He has already been contacted by hr, received a written offer, signed it, returned it and submitted the materials for his background check.

Thanks. I had three interviews total. The first was a skype interview and the second and third were back to back in DC. I heard about 1000 applied, 300 first interviews, 100 second/third interviews for two 15-person classes. I haven't heard of anyone skipping the on site interview but that doesn't mean much. Was your first interview in DC?

Yeah, I had my first interview in D.C. in early January with a three person panel. I never had a Skype interview. My second interview was in late January with two panels of about 10 interviewers each. I'm still holding out hope that I could be a late addition to one of the classes, but based on you hearing back two weeks ago, I think my chances aren't looking too good.

I think that's the right idea. I'm certain there will be some who turn down the position. The government is notoriously slow. Keep the faith.

Yeah, that's awesome! With a class of about 30 examiners, I guess there's still hope!

Does anyone know if they will email/mail a rejection once all 30 positions are officially filled?

Did anyone who did a Skype interview get a job offer? I wondered if they would hold that against an applicant.

Someone earlier in this thread received an offer after having a Skype interview:

Not sure how many applicants are actually posting here; it could just be the same three or so over and over. But I would be interested to know if most people who applied for the position already live near the USPTO or planned to move. I did not know if their hires are more regional or national.

Since I'm asking-- I'll start. Mine was a national application. I applied from Texas.
