This is a competitive job with a large number of applicants and only so many positions. Many great TM attorneys did not make the cut, either ever or before their 4th or 5th interview. Their selection process is a mystery, so the worst thing that will happen is that you do not get the job. It is not a reflection on you, at all. Especially for this job. And you can continue to apply, they post 1-2x a year. Or maybe you'll stumble into a different firm or government job that pays significantly more. Never put all of your eggs in one basket, especially with this place.

I am sure people are kidding about being too nervous to call - everyone here is an adult.

They said hiring would happen late September. That is net week.

I'm unsure why people think it would be this week. They were clear in my interview that it would be the end of September or very likely early October. They said they would let people know ASAP for the October class, but I highly doubt we will hear anything until next week. Since they may be contacting references now, I asked mine to let me know if someone reaches out, but I haven't heard anything so far.

Based on all previous commentaries, they would not contact any of your references until they obtain verbal confirmation/permission from you...

True, but I thought I also read that they asked for references at that time and we have already provided them this go-around. I'm not sure to be honest.

Because looking at previous timelines for summer hiring, they have contacted applicants around the 20th of September, even when the process started later than it did this summer. In the interviews, they stated end of Sept or possibly early October. I can’t speak for what they said to you, but in my interaction end of September seemed most likely. It may be next week or the week after, but it’s also not unreasonable to think it could be as early as this week.

I see, that explains a lot. My interview experience was the exact opposite, with them indicating that while they would their best to notify people ASAP, it would likely be closer to the end of the time frame. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Same. But they said they try to give folks at least a month in advance of their start date.

I didn't state a preferred date. They specifically asked me if both dates would work and I said yes. I would definitely prefer October, but would certainly be happy with either one...fingers crossed!

I just got one! As in the past, it's a soft offer pending your references checking out. They give you the start date and told me that if everything checks out fast enough, your official offer should be sent by the end of the week.

I wasn’t given a start date, so maybe that means January?

I have not heard anything. My guess is that all calls for Jan class will occur today. Since there are 25 calls, that probably will take about a day. Congrats to those who were hired.
