Haven't gotten mine yet, but that's kind of lame. Then again, they don't get the reputation for being financially conservative for nothing, I guess.

Anyone, particularly for those firms with smaller classes (i.e. where it might actually be noticed), going to do some sort of thank you? I guess I wouldn't really know who to email... but could make an attempt, should anyone have wisdom on the subject

I sent a 3-line email to the recruiter who sent me my offer letter (who I had never met or talked to until then). Received an equally short response within an hour.

Why is this even a question? As long as the email is polite and typo-free, it is either neutral or helpful. If you don't send a thank you and it's noticed, it could either be neutral or reflect poorly on you. So just send the thank you. Also, it's just good manners to thank people, even if it gets you nothing in return.

Allen & Overy sent chocolate covered pretzels. I sent a short thank you. Totally agree with the above poster.

My firm, (NYC V100), barely did the above. I wonder what the incentive is. Are they like "oh well, we're V100, no one's expecting much from us."

Your V100 firm definitely does not think like that. Firms have alot of pride and are not going to put themselves down because of their ranking on the Vault list. I've worked at a V100 in NY and the firm was proud of their work and thought they were the "greatest place" as many firms do.

Anyone get anything? We were told to look out at the beginning of last week. Pretty strange, still nothing...

Anyone know the etiquette on thank you notes for holiday gifts from firms for incoming summers? My gift was pretty nice, and I feel weird not sending something...

Yeah I had this question as well. Got a Kindle and I would feel weird not sending a thank you for something nice like that. I think I am going to mail a thank you note to recruiting this week. Might also send a quick email/note to the partner who I had the most contact with to wish him happy holidays and say thanks.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
