Perkins post-cb ding today, pretty bummed because that was my best shot at breaking into the PNW.

How was one of the most selective firms your "best shot"? Or do you mean it was your only cb? PNW is still offering callbacks this week.

Probably because Perkins hires about 1/3 of all SAs in Seattle.

In response to the Oregonian-connect question above:
Applied to 7 Portland offices and 7 Seattle offices (no firm overlap). Significant Oregon ties, flimsy but nonzero Seattle ties, decent grades. Result: 5 Portland callbacks, 0 Seattle bites. In fact, I haven't even received the courtesy of a ding letter from Seattle.
Just one data point, but pretty clear outcome.

Anybody hear anything from K&L Gates? Still haven't heard back from CB. Any offers out or accepted?

Is K&L Gates Seattle insulated from the K&L chaos going on in Chicago, Texas, and Pittsburgh?

I had heard K&L NY + Pitt were struggling ... is Chicago in trouble as well? Also curious if this affects Seattle...

Any opinions on the odds for a Victoria native to get in from Penn? I would assume it would probably be pretty similar to the (unsuccessful) results from Oregon? Would really love to get back to Cascadia.

I was looking at (the very few) Penn grads out there already for the last couple days. Is there a best way to start reaching out to people cold?

Received an offer from K&L Gates recently. Really considering taking it, but concerned about the recent issues at the firm. Should I be concerned? I was really impressed with the firm during my interviews.

Re: Lets Talk Seattle...
So Perkins to 145 happened. Will this affect the market generally and, if so, how much lag will there be given the recent market raise to ~120/25? Alternatively, perhaps PC is making the move to further differentiate itself from the rest of the pack?

Interesting. I'll be at kl gates next summer, so I'm hoping they will match in the next couple years. Can anyone who is more familiar give some history about the jump to 120/125?

I will also be at K&L next summer. Got a call from partner saying they are matching 145 starting in January. So we will be a part of that and our summer pay will be adjusted.Anonymous User wrote:Interesting. I'll be at kl gates next summer, so I'm hoping they will match in the next couple years. ...but actually, I often wonder if there are any practicing attorneys left around these parts (from the early pages).

Hopefully. If you're looking for tea leaves, this is the best I could come up with in 10 min on NALP:Anonymous User wrote:Any clue if other firms (Foster Pepper, Lane Powell, Dorsey, Williams Kastner) will follow?
- Lane Powell: went from 110 to 120k recently, but also raised summer pay from (IIRC) 2000 to 2400/wk, which over 52 weeks is ~125k. If your interest is Lane Powell, all signs point towards a bump (or summers making more than associates lol).
- Foster & Dorsey: both satellite offices of large firms, so it would seem reasonable for them to bump as well (at least marginally to remain competitive locally)--maybe both to 125.
- williams kastner: I have no idea. I hope they would move to at least current market, but I don't know their history of salary increases or much about them generally (currently at 110k).
Tl;dr: The market seems to be moving towards a somewhat uniform number (maybe 125), while Perkins is taking further steps to keep talent from heading to larger markets.
