During 2L OCI, jobs will fall in your lap of you're ranked #1 in your class. Outside of OCI, you really have to send a ton of apps regardless of how good your GPA is.


If OP remains #1 or even close to it, I would bet dollars to donuts that OP has NLJ250 options during OCI.

Not so sure--I mean Yes...most likely OP will land one of those firms as a 2L...but if he is this overconfident and oblivious to the methods of finding legal employment I doubt he will land his ideal or choice firm and I would bet his/her immaturity will clearly sound off during interviews....also, at a "T2" how many firms will be at his OCI and will he correctly do the grunt work which you still must do??

Happy I saw this as a 0L. Not that I would have followed in this guy/gal's footsteps, but I would have assumed anyone who was #1 in their class was a lock for a 1L biglaw firm job.

1L firm gigs are rare and the few that do exist are for diverse students.

I'm ranked 32nd at a school that TLSers would consider to be a TTT. I only applied to four places, and ended up getting a paying jerb at a law firm this summer. It's nice to be a white male with hair.

Update: I was offered a research assistant position today by one of my first semester professors. I also got two callbacks - I've got two federal judge internship interviews late next week.

Feels good, man.
