Went through OCI at T13 last week. Have 1 CB and radio silence on the others. We were told by career services that Atlanta moves slower than other markets. People who got CBs early were people at the top of their list and more will comeAnonymous User wrote:Any updates from anyone on offers/dings from the big Atl firms? Had approx. 10 interviews at oci and nothing but radio silence since. At this point I am less than optimistic.

I know there's some discussion ITT earlier about Morris Manning but can anyone that is familiar with the market/works there chime in on hours, partner up track, general things about the firm, etc? TIA

I would like to know this, too - but only after the intense group interview Friday, good, or bad.Anonymous User wrote:I know there's some discussion ITT earlier about Morris Manning but can anyone that is familiar with the market/works there chime in on hours, partner up track, general things about the firm, etc? Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
I'm the OP, but I have good friends at MMM and know quite a few people there. In further disclosure, I will forever hold a bit of a grudge against them because the firm totally iced their SAs during the recession and rescinded offers. MMM also fired literally all but two of their corporate/real estate associates. No warning or garden leave--just canned them. I think the place is a shark tank driven by a comp scheme that prizes origination above collaboration, and it tends to encourage and reward sharp elbows. There are also some completely loony workaholic partners (like orders of magnitude more than any partner I've worked with at my current firm), but maybe I'm just lucky and that's common elsewhere.Anonymous User wrote:I know there's some discussion ITT earlier about Morris Manning but can anyone that is familiar with the market/works there chime in on hours, partner up track, general things about the firm, etc? With that said, it's a very good firm on the corporate front--especially in the tech transactions space. It's got a very strong real estate group as well. Never litigated against them, but litigation definitely seems like the subordinate practice group.
Associates generally bill between 1950 and 2100 hours. They have a sliding scale bonus that effectively makes it so working more than 2100 hours makes no difference to the bonus amount. I think their bonuses are above market, with the available range being 5-15% if you're a junior/midlevel and it might go to 20% if you're senior. Notably, MMM still has one track of partnership--equity only. So, IMO, it's a bit more "up or out" than other firms, and I think building a good relationship with a powerful partner is more important there than it is in other shops.
I'm also not sure what direction MMM is trying to go. Be a great regional firm? Stick to tech expertise? Expand to the east coast?

Who knows about CBs/offers out (post-OCI) from K&S, TS, etc. Have they been busy or moving slowly this year? Have heard nothing post screeners and CBs from most big Atlanta firms and wondering if I should just accept my NYC offer or wait another week or two.

I know that K&S just finished callbacks this week (like, yesterday). I have absolutely no idea how long it takes offers to go out, but at the very very earliest it'll probably be a day or three.Anonymous User wrote:Who knows about CBs/offers out (post-OCI) from K&S, TS, etc. Have they been busy or moving slowly this year? How long do Atlanta firms typically take to extend an offer after a callback?
No response after one week - is that something concerning?

I didn't apply to ATL firms, but my friends who did (K&S, A&B) all hear back within 4-5 days.Anonymous User wrote:How long do Atlanta firms typically take to extend an offer after a callback?

How long after callback is too early to follow-up? Should I wait two weeks? How fast is Atlanta?

Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
Just received callback yesterday for A&B. During my video screener a week ago I was told they were in the midst of OCI callbacks, but had not started resume collect callbacks yet. So the market definitely moves slower.

Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
What are your general thoughts on Atlanta? Would it be dumb to take an Atlanta offer over NYC/DC?
People in my class at a T14 seem "look down" on Atlanta versus other big cities; is their judgment warranted? Or is Atlanta an underrated place to live? Is the law in Atlanta any less complex? Are exit options any materially worse? Re my classmates: law school prestige tunnel vision, or valid conclusion?
I like Atlanta more, but it's really hard not to follow the pack of my classmates.
