Re: Negotiating Merit Aid (updated with t25 $ statistics)
For individual schools, you can also do cool stuff like this (where the red-to-black spectrum represents low-to-high-LSAT):

did you exclude urm's in those stats? 4k mean scholly seems like a big jump.jackassjim wrote:The difference is really not that huge:Chuch wrote:yeah. i only grabbed first page of search results (hence the even 100). i'm working on updating it now.jackassjim wrote:Your data for Michigan and Virginia are incomplete. Re: Negotiating Merit Aid
This bears repeating. I would also suggest for those interested in playing real hardball to take the June LSAT after apps are said and done. You can leverage additional money out of the school you are already in if you go up even only 1 or 2 points, due to USNWR whoring. Moving up to a 170 from a 168 got me $25,000/year from my dream school when I was not going to get anything. Best return on investment of $110 I will ever see . . .sbalive wrote:I think it should be added to the top of the article - APPLY BROADLY.
Everyone always says to select a "few" reaches and targets. But, especially if you can get fee waivers, it's worth the investment (only $12/app with a waiver) to get as much leverage as possible. So, even if a school might not be in a region where you want to practice, or even if it's a T14 you wouldn't want to attend due to location (like Michigan or Cornell), it's still worth applying and taking the time to write supplemental essays, etc. It's worth it for potentially $10-20K more.

Chuch: It would be rather trivial to produce graphs like the Michigan one for all schools. We could host a gallery on an external website to make sure the thread is not too clutered.
Problem is, I don't want to collect the data, as this would be a major time sink + you have done it all already. If you could send me spreadsheets with 3 columns:
1- Each individual LSAT score matched to
2- Each individual GPA matched to
3- $$$
It would be quite interesting to see how the graphs compare...
