Our mascot is technically a color, Cardinal red. We are the Stanford Cardinal. A lot of people don't understand how a color can be a mascot and frankly I don't either, but a lot of good academic schools seemingly do it (Harvard Crimson, Cornell Big Red, Dartmouth Big Green, etc.).

The tree is technically the mascot of our (stupid fucking) band, which is an incoherent group of annoying nerds that I am embarrassed represent my school.

Pre-1975 or so we were the Stanford Indians, but given how PC Stanford is, that didn't sit well. So they changed it to the Cardinal.

Its some german word like "augertwig"... umm thats a wild guess.. but it means "Downfall" since its chronicling his last days in the bunker.

I always found German words hilarious tho, especially as they often don't make new ones, just smash a bunch together. Like the word for dive bomber is, literally translated, something like "flying bird that drops death from the sky."
