Chapman Class of 2012

Post by jrh1982 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 3:15 pm

Seems like the thread for Chapman Class of 2012 doesn't exist yet...

Who is going? Anybody going to the Angels/Dodgers game on the 19th? What's everybody doing for housing?

And one more thing, just to keep this thread alive (that no one seems interested in... ) Is anybody buying their laptop through the school's discount with Dell/Apple?--Actually, I posted this question on another (admittedly irrelevant) thread, I guess it would belong here....Anybody out there?!

Good luck to you! Hope you get in. I won't make the game since I haven't moved down there yet...

bummer. Where are you planning to live? Hey as of today my app has been "in review" for 6 weeks, so basically that means I have like another year of waiting before I find out haha. How many weeks of in review were all of you?

hey everyone, im a new admitted student as well, Ill be at the angels-dodgers game, is anyone bringing a guest? Also about the laptop question, Im not sure if I will go through the school or not, best buy has some good deals on printers if you buy a laptop as well, which are also relatively cheap

Yeah, I think you can get a better deal if you buy it on your own...I may get a netbook or a very basic laptop, since I will only be using it for school.

I was in review for about 6 weeks when I found out, so you might be about to hear soon!

Not sure where I'll be living yet, just looking on craigslist a lot..some people had told me to stay away from santa ana, but is it all bad? It seems like the downtown area/near the artist's village seems nice and fun. any thoughts?

Nah santa ana has its bad bits but some of its ok. It just sucks that the majority of its pretty ghetto. I suggest renting a house out with people going to school with you or whatever in the area around campus. really beautiful old town. Its close and within walking distance to anything you need. the area is called "the circle" or "the plaza" depending on which generation of people you ask. Besides, if you rent a house out with multiple people, it usually comes out cheaper than an apt anyways. And you can walk to campus.

Make sure you like the keyboard on whatever laptop you buy. I can't imagine taking 3 hour finals on my old Dell now that I have a thinkpad.

As for printers, you can always just use the printers at school. Personally I rarely printed anything until just before finals, I like to study from my laptop so I could edit as I went along.

Hang in there, I just got in on Monday.
I want to go to the game, but I'll need to leave early for my work then. Still debating..

After how long of waiting after in review?

I think I worded that sentence horribly haha but hey you know what I mean. If you don't mind, stats please?

You should go to the game, so much fun to see a town divided amongst itself!

From my experience at Angels / Dodgers games, it's not the Dodgers fans who need be worried, haha. We just can't keep up with the Dodgers fans' shit-talking.

Yeah, I would've gone that route, but I'm married and my wife and I obviously don't want to share our living quarters! I'll keep looking for apartments...

Anybody familiar with the area around the artist's village (I believe downtown santa ana)?

I did though...get it in off the waitlist. I found out via snail mail of a large giant packet and envelope. However I did see that later I had an online status update from the minute I got in (I just never actually checked my status...hence the snail mail first) but I never got an email saying my status had changed.

I am out of town this week or I would have been there!! I'm bummed I am missing it.

They told me to bring my family so I think you can bring guests.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
