Anyone know where I can see the list of books we need? Also, I've been out of school for a while, is anyone buying through Amazon, some other website(s), or going to bookstores on campus?

Also, do we need to buy the $250 parking tag? The website says "law students park for no charge in the law parking garage", but does that mean "no charge with a parking tag"?

Once again, betasteve comes through!

How did you decide which ones to buy used, by availability or by type of book?

EDIT: I'm thinking it's helpful if casebooks are new, but supplements can be used...sound reasonable?

Try half.com... I've found really good prices on there.

I'm really anal about used books (especially those bought online), so I tried to buy new ones. Saved a lot of money, either way (compared to the bookstore).

I'm holding off on supplements for right now. I can't imagine how a few days without them at the beginning of the semester will adversely affect me.

My understanding is that law students don't pay for a parking tag.
For the orientations, printing out a simple "parking pass" from your computer is acceptable; however I uncovered this information from the "Orientation Essentials" page (which to see you'll need to log in with your SMU ID and Password) which might be relevant. Basically, you have to buy the 250 dollar pass.
Who? If you plan to park on campus, you MUST have a valid parking sticker on your car, even if you park in the law garage. To obtain your parking pass, you will need your SMU ID.

Where? SMU Park ‘N Pony Office
Expressway Towers, 1st Floor
6116 N. Central Expressway
When? 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday
Anytime after August 12th

You may also purchase a DART pass for $5 when you pick up your ID and parking pass.

Isn't the law school parking sticker a "valid parking sticker"?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on SMU's website the cost of our parking stickers are included in our tuition. I already ordered mine and I paid $0 for it (relatively speaking).

Check your SMU email. I received an email last Friday that details what we need to do. We do NOT pay the $250, parking is included in law school tuition.

Following the directions in that email will not only order your parking permit but also allow you to print the temporary that you can use for orientation.

FYI - for anyone who is not in the Facebook group and/or hasn't checked lately - orientation info has been posted on the SMU website along with our first assignment. We have a paper due on our first day of LWRA.

And so it begins...

Is there a thread for SMU PT'ers? Or is everything done in here...
