hehe... There's a possibility I'll be there, depends on if they'll give me that low tuition minus some scholly money. I think I'm heading to the ASD on March 6th though; I have a friend that's a 1L there who said I could crash at his apt. You going?

Yeah I'll be there. From what I've heard, you can expect to get maybe $2-5k/yr, not sure if this requires evaluation of your FAFSA first, etc. and I think that's separate from scholarships.

Awesome! No, I haven't gotten any more information yet about the April 10th day. Hopefully they send it out soon! I will let you know when I hear from them.

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to see that I had been awarded $6k/year in grant money from Houston when I logged in to my PeopleSoft account and checked my financial aid award. Anyone else have a similar experience?

What do you mean my figures? All of the costs should be listed in the 'summary' section of your financial aid package.

I mean how much the tuition and fees will be, books, etc... Did you receive this? I don't see this in any type of summary? Did you get an e-mail maybe with this in it? I haven't received an e-mail of any sorts- just checked my pplsoft after seeing you guys had received yours and saw mine up as well. All I see on pplsoft is what they will give me, not how much everything will cost.

I sent in my application two weeks ago (efficiency). Just got the lease agreement emailed to me and they're sending a hard copy next week.

Have you been checking their website? It keeps changing and the rates aren't posted anymore. I called them and they said the old rates are still applicable, but I'm confused. Have you heard anything?

Whoops forgot my other problem.

Has everyone gotten their financial aid information or are some people still waiting?
I haven't heard anything yet, and there's nothing on the peopleSoft account either. :?

I also got my financial aid award. I can't believe I got $6k in grants. On an already low tuition of $20k, that's amazing.

YES!!! I thought I was going crazy, I saw the rates one day and the next I went back to the site to look at rates/floor plans with my girlfriend and they had taken the rates down. I hadn't called or anything, so you know as much as I do. Glad to hear the old rates still apply.

Hey everyone, if you do a keyword search on Yahoo for: "Calhoun Lofts" "prices listed" , the first hit is their old Leasing FAQ page, which has prices on it. You have to click "cached" and not the hyperlinked page header itself, otherwise you will just get the current page. Just in case this goes away, I am copying the prices below:

Unit: Furnished Unfurnished
Efficiency/1 bath: $830 $810
1 Bedroom/1 bath: $1,120 $1,090
2 Bedroom/1 bath: $1,642 $1,602

cdbaldwin said the housing office told him these rates are still applicable, but I thought it would be helpful to have them publicly posted here in the interest of transparency :-)

Also, I just called to get an update on the status of my application, and I was told that I had been approved and was "high on the priority list." I asked what this meant, and the nice lady I spoke with said that it means they have many rooms still available. I asked if I also qualified for the free laundry, and she said yes to that as well.

For those of you who haven't heard, Calhoun Lofts are offering the first 500 lease signers free laundry for a year (2x/week max to prevent 'sharing'). Since there are 744 rooms, I guess that means they have at least 245 left since they still have rooms left in the first 500.

fyi, I just called and anonymously asked about the prices of different rooms, and they all matched the original posting. I'm not sure why they took the prices down....

According to the office, people were misinterpreting the website cuz they thought that it was the rates plus 300 bucks for utilities.

Then shouldn't have put a table that said something like rent + utilities= total monthly cost. I would think that they'd get a lot more calls from people by not having the prices up at all.

My friend who just graduated from UHLC in December also said that they don't have parking. Notice there will be juniors and seniors living there now so that "peace and quiet" advantage goes out the window.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
