so i have my deposit down at fordham, but am riding out several waitlists. at the same time, i'm beginning to explore where i am going to live if i go to fordham. if i get off of a waitlist, i don't want to be hit with a penalty for breaking a lease or something like that. is there such a penalty on the on-campus housing (i assume there is for private landlords)? or are you just supposed to try to wait until the very last minute to choose where to live and just commit?

Housing Agreement Confirmation

Once you have been assigned to a room, you will receive a Housing Assignment Confirmation in mid-August. This Confirmation must be signed and returned to the Office of Residential Life within seven days of your receipt. Keep a copy for your records. If at this time you no longer desire on-campus housing, written notification must be submittedto the Office of Residential Life or you may incur housing charges. Students living in triple rooms will pay areduced rate. Students assigned to these rooms will not be de-tripled. If you would be interested in this type of housing, please check the appropriate box on the Housing Application Card (RL-100), which is in the Housing Brochure sent during the summer.

So, crabbycakes, it looks like you would be at no risk of incurring any penalties from on-campus housing at least through mid-August, should you decide to apply for it.

I called on last Wednesday (April 15) to deposit, gave my info, and was told they'd call back. They haven't, and I assume they're just really swamped getting through everybody's deposits, but I was just curious to see if this is true for anyone else on here as well.

no change. but they were going to call back for my credit card info... weird, i know. i guess the person answering the phones isn't cleared to take that, maybe? so there would be no way for them to process my deposit without calling me, which they haven't done. i guess i should call monday.

i emailed them the night of the 14th, and they called me for my credit card info the next day in the afternoon. u should definitely call monday.

I'm going to be entering Fordham PT this fall and most likely transfer into FT after my first year. I'm looking to move into the city somewhere on the west side around school. I'm 22/female very chill, relaxed, likes to go out (although there will not be that much of it during the first year...) Lemme know if anyone is roommate searching!

Congrats on the decision! I am going to PT to and am going to transfer into FT after 1L. I already live in the city, but join the facebook group and maybe you will be able to find someone that way.

I sent my check two weeks ago, and on 4/14 my status checker confirmed Fordham received it. They haven't cashed it.

Edit: Nope, they got it. Dunno why the status checker doesn't show it.

my credit card hasnt been charged yet either (status checker says they got the deposit), although someone who called said that's because fordham is transitioning to a new billing system

Did anyone start looking at apartments yet? More specifically, did anyone check out the South Park Towers apartment building? It's literally across the street from the school... Its pretty pricey at 2,000+ for an alcove studio, but if any of you looked at it I'd appreciate your views.

For those looking, the Sessanta 60 is really close (less than 2 blocks) and very very nice, but also pricey. It is also brand new so you would be the first person living there.
