Re: Columbia Law School 2012!
do we have any idea how many people they usually take through ED each year? LSN makes it look like a lot more rejections than acceptances for ED candidates...

Re: Columbia Law School 2012!
No idea. But to me it seems like there are probably a lot more rejections than acceptances because a lot of people who apply ED are the ones with borderline / slightly weak numbers hoping for that extra boost (just like me..haha).whyamidoingthis wrote:do we have any idea how many people they usually take through ED each year? Yeah same here...hahaha.whyamidoingthis wrote:we have pretty similar numbers and according to LSN, we are definitely NOT the most borderline people applying ED. My productivity is currently zero waiting for this email.quakeroat wrote:No idea. did people here who applied ED to columbia get confirmation from the law school that they had received the contract confirming the applicant was applying ED?

Is anyone else worried that yesterday's acceptances are all they are going to do for ED? One person who got in didn't go complete until the 20th so they clearly are skipping about in order.

Re: Columbia Law School 2012!
considering the entering class size of 300 and over I doubt they take less than ten percent ED unless for some reason (economic downturn means people want to shop around) has led to a much smaller ed pool this year
Don't worry you still have a few weeks to go

Re: Columbia Law School 2012!
Slightly off topic, but is anyone relieved that the ED acceptances are looking as they are? I mean, they've already accepted people with LSATs less than 172 and GPAs less than 3.7 who are not URMs (as far as I can tell).
I was very concerned a month ago that they would start accepting only 172+/3.7+ candidates, so I actually find the current acceptances encouraging.
Does anyone have a rough idea of how much higher the standards are for applicants who did RD vs. ED?
Thanks!

Yeah I was actually happy to see that too!!
Although, I won't lie, part of me is thinking, "Wait, noooo, they're running out of spots for people with numbers like mine!"

Yeah I'm with you - they can only take so many people who are below their averages. Here's to hoping that Monday brings good news!britishseapower wrote:Yeah I was actually happy to see that too!!

Is there any word of not-so-good news yet? Or will those all go out Dec. 31?

Re: Columbia Law School 2012!
Yeah...I'm starting to get very worried. It looks like the number of people they've accepted this year through ED on LSN already is about as many as they did in previous years.
Then again, from LSN it looks like this year's ED pool is much stronger than in previous years, so maybe they'll be admitting more people. If you look at previous years, most of the ED applicants listed on LSN were long-shots and below the school's 25th percentiles in LSAT and GPA. This year, about half of the ED applicants on LSN have numbers that make it seem like they have a decent shot.
Is there still hope this week for admits, do you think?
