Unaccredited school grades & LSAC GPA

Post by Zdrussell » Mon Feb 18, 2019 6:10 pm

I graduated an unaccredited school, now I’m at an accredited university redoing undergrad so I can go to law school. I’m a little concerned about my GPA at my first school. I was wondering how LSAC treated grades from an unaccredited institution? We’re they factored normally?

Split this off into a new topic - forum best practices are to avoid resurrecting ("necroing") old threads unless there is a super compelling reason (i.e., exact same and highly unique fact pattern).

Grades from unaccredited schools will be factored into your LSAC GPA just like grades from accredited schools (with each credit weighted the same). Just like how LSAC doesn't draw lines between major and non-major classes, or STEM vs. non-STEM classes, or community college vs. four-year college classes.

But here, an added wrinkle is that you actually graduated (by which I presume you received a Bachelor's degree) from your first school. I think your LSAC GPA will then be solely based on your grades from that first school. LSAC doesn't count any classes taken after the receipt of your first Bachelor's degree.
