Application advice

Post by allnamestaken132 » Sat Dec 08, 2018 6:29 pm

I just got back my lsat score today of 163. Unfortunately I had been testing in the 168-170 range and am a bit disappointed. I am considering taking the January lsat but is that too late for applying to T14 law schools? Would a gap year with taking the July app be more worthwhile?

I have a 3.4 GPA in molecular bio at UCLA.

Thanks!

You can still take the January LSAT, but I'd advise waiting for next cycle and applying early. Even if schools permit you to apply after January scores come out, doing so would place you at a severe disadvantage, as law schools admit applicants on a rolling basis. This is only compounded by the fact that you'd be trying to get into the T14 as a splitter, given your GPA - you'd be able to get away with a bit more as a late applicant if you had superb numbers.

Also, given your 3.4, you should probably try to get above a 170 on the LSAT to maximize your odds at the T14. Try to get your LG to -0, if it isn't already - that's the quickest way to improve.
