Where to apply

Post by JustEmployee1 » Mon Sep 10, 2018 10:08 am

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on where to apply. 161 LSAT, 3.2 GPA (but significant upward trend, 3.65 after freshman year of undergrad), finishing senior year at a very good UG school currently. Looking to stay in the northeast or east coast, willing to go midwest too. I have some ideas of places to apply and I have one hail mary (BC) but I'm trying to cut down the list now. Thank you all!

I'd retake if I were in your shoes. A 3.2/161 makes it extremely likely that you're going to have a bad law school outcome. 3.2/168 or 3.2/171 starts to move the needle in a better direction.

I’m not looking to go tier 1. I’m fine anywhere from 30-60 (including my UG’s law school)

It's less of a T14 thing, and more of a money thing. Admission in the T1 range (15-50) looks pretty solid, but some of the scholly numbers look a bit low.

IU with a $70k scholly isn't half bad.
Ohio State with $20k isn't worth it.
Illinois at $110k is a good outcome.
George Mason at $40k isn't great, but worth an application to see if they can do better scholly wise.
Maryland at $40k isn't great either, but worth an application.

Thing is, if you retake and get a 167 (https://mylsn.info/z9v4i4/), you start getting decent money at places like:
BU at $70k
BC at $70k
W&L at $110k
GW at $80k
