Military Conscription as military experience?

So I'll be going off to serve my military conscription in December this year.
I'll be applying to law schools in November and I'm hoping to submit all of my law school applications before I go off to the military.
Will conscription count in my favor in terms of having military experience? And how should I represent this aspect of myself on the application?
I could obviously send a followup email sometime in January once I'm done with basic and have been assigned to a base.
But I'm wondering if I should say something on the resume or some part of the LSAC application?
