LLM Admissions

Post by AnonHYS » Wed May 23, 2018 10:57 pm

Hello

Soo i go to a Top 3 law school. Long story short, 1L didn't go too well and Im probably in the bottom quarter of the class at the moment (rising 3L). One interest I did pick up on was tax law. Really enjoyed these classes, and could definitely see myself as a tax lawyer.

I do have a job offer at the moment from a V70 firm in a smaller legal market - but I'd much rather go to either smaller tax focused firm or just a better firm in a major market such as NY. If you have experience with LLM admissions, please comment on what you think my chances are at GULC and NYU. Thanks!

HYS is pretty much auto admit at either. That said, I wouldn't necessarily assume you need to get an LLM. Try 3L OCI with a tax focus and see how it goes. It's a pretty big gamble to turn down an offer for an LLM.
