Should I retake the LSAT in February?

Post by Cb340 » Wed Jan 10, 2018 11:37 am

I have a 3.95 gpa and a 160 from December, and am looking at schools like Fordham and Boston U as targets.

A February retake would get me up to at least a 165 (I was practice testing in 165-170 range for December but bombed the first two sections due to nerves and annoying/distracting proctors.)

I’d like to have a shot at some t14 schools, but I’m not sure if the higher score would help, since most schools in the t14 have told me that they barley have any seats left by the time feb scores are released. I am a minority applicant, and first gen college grad, for what it’s worth, but not sure what difference it makes.

Am I better off just applying as is? I have few waivers for most of the t14 schools that I’m interested in.

Any advice on how to proceed? What are my chances at Michigan, Texas, or Georgetown?

Yes, and what kind of minority applicant are you?

Expect noise/annoying proctors or fellow test takers at EVERY sitting. Take some of your practice exams in such an environment like a library. I did a few of mine at the local law library which seemed to be a good match for the level of annoyance in my exam. I had one guy who cracked his knuckles constantly and another that couldn't seem to blow his nose and just sniffled the entire time. Proctors in and out of the room with a noisy door. These will happen at every exam, be ready for it. Take it again but be prepared for less than a silent room.

Have you already registered for the Feb exam? Because the deadline passed, FYI.

I am registered. But I am concerned that the score release date will put me at a disadvantage, and that I may be better off applying now with the 3.95/160.
