Deloitte to Law School

Post by naturevalleyluver » Sun Dec 24, 2017 3:59 pm

Hi Everyone!

I am planning on working at Deloitte for a year or 2 after graduation and was hoping to hear from the TLS community about this decision. Have you (or someone you know) followed a similar route? I am not sure if this is a smart decision for law school/ what the perception is of people who apply from Deloitte to T14s.

Thanks for your help :)

It's an excellent path to take in pretty much every regard.

I worked at PwC for a year before applying. I wouldn’t say it necessarily helps you with any T-14s but it could be seen as beneficial when interviewing for corporate law positions.

Thanks yall!
Are there certain things I should do to maximize my time at Deloitte/make my efforts come across in my app? Should I be looking to ask a manager for a rec/ addressing my experience at all?

They will still only care about your GPA and LSAT. I worked in consulting for 3 years before law school and I doubt it played into my admissions decisions. As mentioned earlier, it does help with corporate law interviews.

Focus on networking while you're at Deloitte; that could pay off huge for when you're starting to look for a job after law school. While you're in law school, keep in touch with your managers, etc. Definitely let them know your plans re. law school when that time comes.

You shouldn't necessarily be "looking" to ask your manager for a rec but if you think your manager can provide you with a solid recommendation letter, then you should definitely ask them.

Eh, I think my W/E helped me slightly outperform my numbers. Its not huge, but I wouldn't say law schools only care about GPA and LSAT.
