BREAKING: Columbia Law Accepting GRE Scores
More info here:http://www.law.columbia.edu/news/2017/1 ... ign=buffer
I'm curious as to how schools will assess the GRE, particularly the quantitative section. Plus, I'm pretty sure the GRE is here to stay as a law school entrance exam IMO.

My guess is no, just because its Yale. However, if they start feeling threatened by S or H, they will change in a heartbeat. And Penn will change its tune when its equivalent schools of NYU, Duke, and UVA start taking it.KENYADIGG1T wrote:WIll Yale ever take the GRE?sparkytrainer wrote:Just my usual update to say I called this. Re: BREAKING: Columbia Law Accepting GRE Scores
This sounds about right. Yale really has no incentive to accept the GRE--their position is damn near unassailable. However, reading CLS's release, I found a few things interesting. It seems that they want to attract STEM-minded people who would otherwise have little incentive to deal with the LSAT but still want to apply to law school. I don't want to read too much into this but I wonder if this means that the quantitative section will count for something for ALL GRE applicants (incl. Humanities), or whether this would vary depending on the disciplinary focus of the applicant (for example, as a philosopher, I had no incentive to study quant so I didn't and my score shows it).sparkytrainer wrote:My guess is no, just because its Yale. Second, I wonder whether KJDs will still have to take the LSATs. As it stands it looks like with the "interdisciplinary" rationale CLS is citing for accepting the GRE, they want someone with a grad degree or someone with a strong interest in getting a JD/[grad degree].
In all, this is a huge move no doubt, but I don't think this is a death knell for the LSAT. What do y'all think?

I'm so, so excited for when these schools reject everyone without perfect GRE scores and get to look even more selective for it.
