How soon after apps open should you submit?

Post by ivankasta » Thu Jul 13, 2017 4:45 pm

I am going to be applying next cycle and I plan on having my application materials ready to go by this time next month, before any schools open their apps.

Seeing as I will be prepared to submit day 1, should I? Or will doing so just out me for the high-strung psychopath that I am?

Any advice on application timing would be appreciated.

The advice I've heard is that if you can submit on Day 1, go for it, but also that everything up through the end of September (and in some cases through October) is seen as equally early in the eyes of admissions reps since they don't start diving into reading files until November. So no Day 1 vs. Day 2 bump (or penalty for that matter), but early is always good if your app is totally ready.

Earlier the better! But keep in mind, if you're money conscious, that some schools won't send fee waivers until mid-September.
