How many schools are you applying to?

Post by UCLAcal » Sun Jul 09, 2017 12:52 am

I am compiling a list of law schools that I want to apply to and that I would attend.

I live in CA so I will apply to all the UC law schools and some private schools.

Since I have a 168 (URM), I am going to blanket T-14.

In total, my list consists of 30 schools.

I have a super-broad list I need to narrow down, but I'm an extreme splitter with an LSAC fee waiver so the majority of these will probably stay on the list. My list as of now is all of 8-40 east of the Rocky Mtns (so minus CA schools, ASU, Univ. of Washington), plus W&M and my state's flagship public law school, which is ranked in the 50s (so either UConn, Kentucky, Tennessee or Nebraska; don't want to say more at risk of outing myself).

It's 28 schools in total. Assuming I don't get ED at WUSTL I probably will end up applying to 20 of those.

I don't have a whole lot of money, still waiting on my fee waiver to finish reviewing. I figure 5 straight out the gate, and then maybe 3-4 more in December depending on how things are going.
I have a child who will be starting kindergarten the same year I start classes so it is important to me that I study in a place I really feel my family can settle down long-term.
