Re: SLU v. Indiana v. Baylor
Don't listen to pointless rankings.
What is your calculated COA at each of them?
Where do you want to practice?
What type of salary are you expecting from any of these schools and how do plan to pay for school/debt?
ETA: This is clearly a retake scenario, I just want the other info before we all try to persuade you to retake

COA at SLU is about $11K, Baylor $50K, and Indiana: $28K, per year which is a huge consideration as I don't want to necessarily be paying loans back forever. I know that if I retake I could do much better, I just don't want to wait another year to start. Law school was pretty last minute for me and I didn't take the first time until Feb. Ultimately I would like to either stay in the midwest or go further west, pretty open though.

Yup, you successfully hit every reason to retake in one short paragraph. That's tough to do. Right now you have bad options, barely tried on your first take, applied late as a last minute application, and have major room to improve. Retake until you at least have WUSTL for free as an option. And realize any debt you take out doing family law will have to be paid off making very modest salaries. Like $40k/year and unlikely to increase.

This is the literal definition of a textbook retake/recycle scenario.hlaw25 wrote:COA at SLU is about $11K, Baylor $50K, and Indiana: $28K, per year which is a huge consideration as I don't want to necessarily be paying loans back forever. OP, if you don't want debt, do better on the LSAT and go to a better school with a really good scholarship.

Then you should absolutely retake. If you're going to *start* by working for yourself, you probably won't make much money for a while, so any debt you have will seem absolutely hopeless to repay.hlaw25 wrote:Yes, ideally.Npret wrote:You want to go work for yourself out of lawschool?
