Another Year off?
I am 1 year off from UG and I am considering another year. I have a 162 LSAT with a 3.51 GPA. I was accepted into a few schools that I considered, UCH, UCD, and Colorado but I am really considering taking another year to try and improve my LSAT. I have only taken it once and only studied for a week prior to taking it by doing a few PTs. I am thinking if I spend the next 4 months really focusing on studying the LSAT and retake it in September I should have a good chance at improving my score. I also applied pretty late in the cycle Jan/Feb, as I didn't take my LSAT until December of 2016.
My goals are PI and my ideal school would be Berkeley as I want to stay in California.
Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you

It sounds like you know what to do. If you got your score with barely studying then I would focus on taking any time before the end of the year when you think you've reached your LSAT potential and then take and apply before 2018.

Yeah, sit out a year and retake the LSAT. With your PI goals you really need a full scholarship or T14 with $$$ for max flexibility.

Thank you all. I pretty much figured I should retake and redo the cycle, it just helps to hear it from other people because I am really having trouble with putting off school another yet.

A 162 with minimal studying is not a bad starting point. You have a while until fall and if you study and even bump your score only 5 points you will have much better prospects.

Would it be worth it to study starting now and take the June LSAT as well as the September LSAT, or just wait until September?poptart123 wrote:A 162 with minimal studying is not a bad starting point. You can do both, but honestly, whenever you feel that you are in your prime and whatever you are comfortable with. Since scores aren't averaged both can't hurt, though.seandpor wrote:Would it be worth it to study starting now and take the June LSAT as well as the September LSAT, or just wait until September?poptart123 wrote:A 162 with minimal studying is not a bad starting point.
