Retake after acceptance

Post by celticsfan » Tue Mar 28, 2017 1:50 pm

I apologize if this has been answered before, but does anyone have any experience retaking the LSAT in June to negotiate more money for the school of your choice? This is assuming you've already paid the deposit; will schools consider increasing your scholarship if you receive a higher score and are already planning on attending?

You're more likely to get called on your bluff, so you need to be prepared to walk and reapply the next cycle.

It can be done and has been done before, but like Rigo said, at that point your only real leverage is to go to that school or withdraw and reapply next cycle - hopefully you're willing to do that

Could one use it to get off waitlists at other schools and then use those new acceptances to create a negotiation with the school one deposited with?

Sure.
It's all a crapshoot come July though. Sometimes there is still scrambling by adcoms if the class profile is tenuous, but things are usually pretty set by then.
If the medians are holding on by a few students, the school may be willing to play ball. If the medians are pretty secure, they probably won't.
