Outlook For Me

Post by theGrinch » Tue Sep 27, 2016 2:28 pm

Quick and dirty, white male with the following:

Undergrad major: Cybersecurity
Undregrad GPA: 3.41
Graduate Major: Legal Studies
Graduate GPA: 3.95 (I realize this means nothing)
First LSAT Diagnostic score: 143
Currently enrolled in Testmasters course

I already have student loans so will be attending law school part-time so I can continue to work (if I can get a 75% scholarship I can afford to pay the rest without loans). I have been in IT full time for the past seven years and currently work for the State. My aim is to attend either Rutgers Camden or Temple in the evenings. Supposing that I get a 160 on the LSAT, do I stand a chance at getting a full ride at either Rutgers or Temple? Also, I was told a few weeks ago that Rutgers does not offer full tuition scholarships. Anyone confirm that this is the case?

I doubt it, but I'm sure you would get something. Temple is pretty reticent to give full schollys. Considering you would be at their lsat median and below their gpa, I'm not sure how much they'd give you. Definitely not a full, that I can tell you.

Are you URM?
Probably not at Temple, but you could be competitive at Rutgers. I know people got pretty generous schollies at Newark with not great GPA's but decent LSAT's (160+). Not sure about Camden, but they're merged now.

Just do your best. Cliche but really all you can tell a person in the process of studying. Good luck!

What's your aim after law school?

I'd like to continue to work in state government. I currently deal with regulatory enforcement so staying in that field would be my primary goal. If I were to move, I'd aim for data security/privacy or criminal law with a cyber slant. My understanding is that the high tech criminal prosecutions/defenses are hard to come by so focusing on criminal law and grabbing high tech cases when they present themselves would be my plan.

A 160 and a 3.4 should get you a full ride at Villanova (based on past performance... they gave out 132 full rides last year) - something to consider
