Eh, not really weird. All this think has to do is come up with a reasonable formula to ballpark your score. It is bound to match up exactly with people's scores a few times.

Not surprising that this works as well as it does, but still helpful. I wish I'd heard both of these methods before Sept. test (that 10 point span between the predictions captures my PT average, but it would have given me a sense of what was realistic and what I was capable of on the high end)

Sorry, I use a different formula for calculating SAT-LSAT correlation. My old tutor said that one's starting point should be the verbal score with the last zero removed and a one added to the front.

I scored an 800 on the verbal. Technically, I should've started from a 180.

The OP's formula gave me a number that was -6 the actual. Yours gave me the correct score. Interesting....

I found it interesting and thought I'd relay it. It was EXACTLY on for me.

LSAT = (SAT*/21) + 101 (m.o.e +/-5)

I got a 1340 on the SAT, and I got a 165 on the LSAT

I scored 13 points higher than it says I should have. Wish I'd studied for the SAT now.

Mine was off by 11 points (in a good way). I'm attributing this to my hatred for math, though. My SAT scores looked ridiculous 700s in Verbal and 500s in math.

No dice for me. 1400 sat (730v/670m), 175 LSAT. Oh well. Back in 1997 a 1400 was a good enough score to get me into some good schools. If I had done better there I'm sure my 175 would do the same

predicted 164-165, actual was 168. I think I did pretty well considering my SAT score was so damn unbalanced (750M / 580V). I'm a slow reader.

It predicted a 162, and I got a 161 on my initial LSAT diagnostic.

I took the SAT cold and didn't study for it at all, so I guess that makes this formula pretty accurate.

Hopefully, studying this time will get me better than a 162. I haven't scored that low on any PT since, and I've scored as high as 178. I think anything 168 and above will make me very happy, but I want to get a 170 to give me a shot at Cornell.

Impressive improvement. What study methods/materials did you use?

SAT score prediction: 165 (and I actually took a prep course for this thing back in the day)
ACT score prediction (using the table converting ACT to SAT from this thread): 171.5 (no studying)
LSAT: 172 (~3 weeks of light studying)

Dead on, if you ignore my SAT. I'm not really sure what happened there (My highest score was on the math section on that thing, something obviously went wrong).

This is a pretty shabby formula. I did zero studying for the SAT and scored a 1080. I scored a 29 on the ACT so that helped, but my cold diagnostic was 160. After three months of studying I'm hoping to be in the 172+ range. I guess it might work decently for someone who studied intently for the SAT and ACT but for someone like me who studied for neither and plans on studying hardcore for the LSAT it is pretty inaccurate.

But i'm still happy. I might re-take in Feb for glory (and scholarship $).
