I'm guessing yes. My numbers are slightly lower and I got one, but I took the June LSAT.

My question is, is it even worth it to apply to GULC because of the $16 LSAC fee. I have no intent of going here. I would take NYU sticker over GULC with a large scholarship.

Honestly? No. GULC is stingy with scholarships, so applying wouldn't even be useful for negotiating. And they don't give you a travel stipend for ASW or anything. I'd save the $16 and go out to dinner or something.

Was my line of thinking. Thanks! I looked at LSN and you're right, they are fairly stingy with scholarship money. I'd have a better bet with MVP, and they are much better schools overall as well.

Hi guys. Joining this disco.

Bummed I haven't gotten any yet. I changed my app year to 2012 (this is correct, correct? haha) in late June. Got a bunch last year. My friend said his Columbia waiver was hidden although mine was through an email. He also never got his NYU acceptance email and didn't find out until they sent the letter to his house. He's dumb with email. So he might have been lying about the hidden waiver.

Angrier than a bird being flung at a pig that LSAC's fee is up to $16. Something to counter all those "retake, reapply" assholes, eh? YEA BUT NOW IT'S $4 MORE PER SCHOOL WHICH WILL BE LIKE $120 ONCE I COVER THE T30.

OP - if you want to make this thread like last year's, you could list schools and the dates their fee waivers came. Just a thought.

ETA: Dunno if the other previous applicants know this, but do they offer fee waivers more discriminately to prior applicants? Should I plan on requesting individually for each place I want to apply, or can I assume lots of the same places from last year will through me a waiver this year as well? Haven't retaken the LSAT yet, but depending on my odds of beating my December score, it's likely I may not retake at all.

It's not that they're trying to offer them discriminately, I think it's just that in their CRS searches they try to omit people they think are not applying this year. Request one from every school you'd like to apply to that you don't hear from, and for the schools who gave you waivers last year but not this year, send them an email mentioning you got one last cycle but didn't apply, and see if they can give you one for this year. I think people were pretty successful with that last year.

In his defense, NYU does not email acceptances. We all had to wait for snail mail.

Do splitters (170+/-3.5) ever get fee waivers in the T25? Or, put another way, do you have to be at/above BOTH medians to get a fee waiver, or is being above one sufficient?

Hey, I'm retaking and reapplying. Do you guys know how to let schools know that you're in the market for fee waivers? I just switched my expected attendance from 2011 to 2012 on my LSAC account. Is there anything else I need to do?

I got fee waivers from schools where I was below both medians. If you don't get oe you want, you can request one from the school.

Yes. I think a lot of CRS searches are based solely on LSAT.

From the Applicant FAQ Thread:

Q: I took the LSAT in previous cycles or am re-applying and am not receiving them, what should I do?
Last updated for the 2010-2011 cycle.
This thread has more info: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=127020
Wait until after the CRS wave goes out(which you can see in the thread linked) and e-mail politely and ask. So far this cycle(08/26/2010).

Schools with ninjas for admissions officers: (Managed to find us despite nobody else being able to)
Duke
Santa Clara

Horchata asked for a second fee waiver to use.
Schools that said yes:
UVA
Michigan
Boston U.
U. Illinois
UCLA
Vanderbilt
Minnesota
USD
ASU

Schools that said no:
Columbia
Penn

Q: When should I e-mail them to ask?
After the CRS wave.

I know this will make everyone here very happy, but you can add Cooley to the list.

That makes 7 or 8 shitty waivers for me. I would like a decent one please. From anywhere. Just to boost my ego at this point.

I took June LSAT, Georgetown skipped me, but I got one today from Cooley

I know these don't "mean anything" but at least knowing some methodology behind why people get/don't get with similar stats etc. would make me feel a little more comfortable.

When are/did you retake the lsat? You should be included in the fee waiver wave right after your retake score is released. As far as others who are not retaking and sat for previous administrations or are simply reapplying, these types may just have to end up emailing schools requesting one. I think it really depends on the specifications of each school's CRS search.
October, so I have to wait till then?
