Resumé

Post by mmakhail » Mon Jan 04, 2010 1:14 pm

I am sending out a resumé with my applications. I just wanted to know, should I have an object at the top? If yes, my assumption is that it should be geared toward law school acceptance, is that correct? Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you meant objective and no, don't write one. It's pretty obvious what your intentions are.

I heard that you shouldn't put objective on a law school resume since it's quite obvious.

Its not needed. They know exactly why you are sending the resume.

Your object is to get into X Law School. The schools know that. Your personal statement gives them more information about it. Don't put one.

I have a similar question...

How about the "Profile" section. I am not sure if it is just an engineering thing, but I have this section that highlights my expertise/skills... Should I keep it?

Are they applicable to law school? I took mine out because I figured schools did care, that I knew Autocad, PSpice, C and python.

Not really... actually not at all.

I don't mention specific skills as much as overall expertise, but I guess I will go ahead and remove it. Thank you!

My career services office told me to put an objective at the top, and I'm not sure why I listened to them. It just gave me one more thing to obsess over (making sure that the right objective was going to the right school). That said, it's not like it's going to hurt you.
