Academic Warning/Probation... How much is too much?

Post by pajaro » Wed Dec 30, 2009 9:33 am

Hey TLS people...

I have a question concerning academic warnings/probations. I have been placed on academic warning twice and probation once during my ugrad career due to failure to complete 75% of registered credits for those semesters, respectively. Basically, at my school, if you register for 4 classes and drop 2, you are placed on academic warning. If you get academic warning twice, then you are placed on academic probation. My GPA is 3.1. Very low indeed, but how much will the academic warnings/probation coupled with a low GPA affect my apps? Lsat = 164.

Anyone else applying with academic warnings or probation?

Any info would help, thanks!

I would write a short, concise addendum restating what you just told me. You might also want to include why you dropped so many classes, if there were an extenuating circumstances, etc.

You have a great LSAT, you can still get into many Tier 1 schools with those numbers.

What he said. I would stay away from apologizing or making excuses in your addendum, just state the facts and move on.
