PS Topic Advice?

Post by user2139 » Sat Oct 14, 2017 11:47 am

I wrote a personal statement that is framed around my experience being briefly detained (but not arrested/charged) by the police. I think the rest of the essay is quite strong, but is this too risky to mention in my personal statement? I wouldn't otherwise disclose the incident because I was not charged with a crime (think pulled over for going 10 above, apologizing, and being let off). Thanks in advance.

My answer actually heavily depends on your race. If this is a PS about facing discrimination in policing stops, go nuts. If you're white, then find something else to write about.
