Cahillion, would you mind posting the times (if they gave you any) of all of the legal research and writing classes? I didn't receive the letter you have. Maybe I can narrow down what class I'm in based on my schedule. Thanks!

Re: Pepperdine School of Law, Class of 2011
All five groups have different days in their schedules, but all of them are held at 10:20am - 11:20am, and/or 3:10pm - 4:10pm except for group 4 which has a class at 2:40pm - 3:40pm on Wednesday.
If your class schedule is like mine that doesn't help any.
I just got an email which says they'll explain what group I'm in during orientation.

So, I emailed the Office of Admissions, and they said we will be assigned to a legal research and writing group during orientation because there is still movement in the class (and they want all the groups to be as even as possible). I called the bookstore, and they told me that all the books aren't in yet. They also said we'll get a book list at orientation, but I'm really hoping they send it earlier.

What is everyone bringing to orientation, just a notebook or more?

I think we need to get Exam Soft installed in our laptops. I'm bringing my laptop, so I can take care of it early.

Hey lawgirl and sd4shizy, did you guys have to install Parallels or Windows? I just upgraded to Leopard, is that enough for the exams?

A tech person at Pepperdine told me I'd have to run Windows alongside my Mac OSx or something like that using bootcamp. He was not very helpful and was probably the most unfriendly person I talked to at Pepperdine. I told him I had no idea what I was doing, and asked if they could help me. He told me how to do it in vague terms, but I'm still lost. I love my Mac, but Pepperdine is making me wish I'd bought another PC. I'm in the same boat with you guys Cahillion and Plaw11. I'm almost completely clueless. They should have told us not to purchase Macs in our acceptance packets if they knew they didn't intend to help us with them. The late notice and lack of assistance sucks.

Re: Pepperdine School of Law, Class of 2011
Here is what I have done lawgirl. I upgraded my laptop to the new Leopard OS (I had Tiger) because only Leopard can run a software program called "Parallels." Parallels allows you to then install Windows, and run Windows programs on your MAC in a window or on fullscreen. It's called a virtual machine because it's like running a computer inside of a computer.
It's not cheap, but then buying a new laptop is far more expensive.

After tons of emails and searches, this is what I discovered about Mac use at Pepperdine. You must use Boot Camp to install Windows XP or Vista. Boot Camp is included with Mac OSx version 10.5 (Leopard). You cannot use parallels to create the "virtual machine." The following links are extremely helpful:
