Re: Indiana U - Bloomington '11
My wife and I looked at poolside too but ultimately decided on a 2BDR apt about a mile south of the University (only about a hundred a month more than poolside). I decided I'd probably be getting my fill of stressed out law students at school....kind of wanted some separation between that and home....
Also....check out apartmentratings.com if you haven't already.....I know that I found one place online that looked pretty nice, but saw on aptratings that more than 80% of the 60+ reviews were extremely negative (price gouging, negligent management, etc.) Yeah, I know....you can't trust the internet.....but seriously, that's a shit ton of bad reviews.

Did anyone else get the e-mail that said everyone would get a "for sure" decision by April 15th?
It's the 17th, I just called and they said it would be late next week at the earliest.

Yup, I got the same e-mail. I was planning on calling today. What's taking so long?bemurphy333 wrote:Did anyone else get the e-mail that said everyone would get a "for sure" decision by April 15th?

Let me know what they say this time - I did not want to call again so soon. I'm not sure what is taking them so long - I know they have a new admissions dean. It's a top choicefor me, but they are delaying to a point that is making my decision very difficult.

Just a little Bloomington/IU plug in this article on the "Great Dates for the NFL in 2008"
http://sports.espn.go.com/travel/news/s ... 4353#nov.2
#5. November 2: New England at Indianapolis
Granted, Indianapolis usually doesn't rank among the world's most desirable cities to spend a weekend, but you can make an exception with a game so big fans are probably already tailgating outside RCA Dome.
And as an added bonus, up the road a piece in South Bend, Notre Dame hosts Pitt the day before (buy tickets) and you never know, the Patriots ex-offensive genius, Charlie Weiss, may actually win (or at least the Irish may score a touchdown). Or you head an hour south and check out Bloomington, one of the best college towns around (and "Sink the Biz" at Nick's English Hut).
Notice they don't call South Bend a great college town (it's actually TERRIBLE). You guys will love Nick's. When I take out of towners out to eat in Bloomington, Nicks is always my first thought. Sink the Bizz is great, and it gets a more "mature" crowd than most other places. It is one block from the law school on Kirkwood.

AHHHH!! I NEED A ROOMMATE! I got a great apartment (2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom) right next to the law school at 444 E. 3rd St. and already signed my half of the lease only to have my roommate bail on me, so I now need a roommate ASAP. The rent is $675 per person and you'd get your own room and bathroom not to mention the in-unit washer and dryer. Sold yet? The apartment listing website is here: http://www.burnhamrentals.com/index.php ... nity_cd=51

Re: Indiana U - Bloomington '11
Hi all,
I've been offered a scholarship of 14k/year, requiring a 3.2 gpa. That equates to 42 over three years.
I've noticed that on LSN 42 and 110 seem to be fairly standard offers.
What really want to know, and hopefully someone might know this:
(1) What is the first year curve / median gpa?
Also:
(2)a. What have your scholarship offers been like? (requirements, etc.)
2b. Also, I'm out of state. Are you out/in state? (I don't know if this makes any difference, but curious if it plays into the scholarship considerations)
2c. I'm with a higher lsat, lower gpa. How about you? If you got 42, what is your situation? And those of you getting the big 110s, are your applications stellar? (high gpa and lsat) are you instate? out of state?
(3) Randomly, who are all of the out of staters? Who's from the region? Who's from farther away? (west coast, east coast, Canada?, another continent?)
Thanks very much...
I might be seeing you all soon!

Hi Ron,
Thanks for writing back.
I found also on NALP's website for the school that the graduating median gpa is about 3.2. I had read somewhere that a schools gpa median might be higher in the first year than in the cumulative. That's why I was particularly curiuos what the gpa for the first year is. Do you think/know if the gpa is the same curve during the first year? (and if you do, how does one find this info?)
Thanks!!

For anyone wondering about the GPA, I know that Indana raised their GPA last year. So, the 3.2 maybe on the low side. Not sure. The reason? They felt some of the IU-Indy kids were getting jobs that should belong to their students. Most of the kids who ended up in Indy were not accepted into Bloomington.

What was the most important or beneficial thing you did or learned while visiting the school?
What sorts of activities or inquiries would you recommend for someone on a school visit?
