Yea, I'm pretty excited about the campus. Used to be a seminary so one would expect it to be pretty nice. Hartford is not the nicest city in the US but it also isn't the worst. That being said, the school is also not in the slums of Hartford. For those who will move to CT for the first time, there is plenty to do in the area, especially closer to the shoreline if you head 40 minutes south. Furthermore, it is 2 hours from both Boston and NYC so you really can't beat that location split. Anyone who has any questions about the location or what there is to do in the area please either hit me up on this board or send me a PM and we can chat about it. I look forward to seeing those of you future Husky lawyers in August or before if we can all arrange a meeting!

I'm perfectly fine with the teams that I have been routing for since I was about 4 yrs old:
Patriots - Football
Red Sox - Baseball
Celtics - Basketball
Rangers - Hockey

Not a bad choice of teams. The Red Sox/Yankees rivalry in CT is hilarious too!

Also, UCONN teams become the "professional" sports teams of CT!

Nope, wish I could go though - unfortunately won't be back in the country yet! Please do take pictures and let me know how it went! I will be there in spirit!

Oh, and regarding the area and campus-

UConn is the West end, almost into West Hartford. Between the city cops, the Uconn cops, and the University of Hartford Public Safety Officers (their campus is right next door), that area of the city is very secure.

As far as the campus itself, it is far better in person than in the pictures. Old world gothic architecture. The new library is just about finished with its renovations. I cannot wait to begin studying there in the fall.

The only downside with the campus is there isn't a real lot of parking, but that's not a big deal.

I agree 100% that Hartford is much better than people think - I would say better than New Haven in terms of safety now. I have never actually seen the law school campus so I am itching to come back home and check it out! Glad to know that it is even more beautiful than the pictures make it look...they are some pretty nice pictures so that's AWESOME!!!

I went complete 11/15 and received my decision on 1/26. UCONN tends to take a little more time and did not start divulging their decisions until late in the game. I'm sure yours is coming soon and I wish you the absolute best. Keep me informed! Hope to see you posting as a member of the Class of 2011 soon!!!

I watched that game with a combination of rooting for the underdawg/ in disbelief that it was killing my bracket. Big surprise.

Yea man, my bracket is pretty jacked as I had UCONN upsetting some teams and making it to the Final Four. At least I didn't pick them to win it all! I guess there is always next year - just would have been nice to have that one! Oh well, life continues.

I went complete on the 4th of March and was accepted about 15 days later.

I am into the University of Connecticuts part-time (Technically class of 2012), I don't know about the scholarship yet. I have until the classes start to decide if I want to pursue the education.
By the way what are you doing in Afghanistan? I would love to know.

Yea, I'll be there. I think the 'open house' portion of it happens after that 'session on success' thing, where they have that self-guided tour/scavenger hunt and luncheon with students and faculty.

I'd much rather have them just give us a tour and do the usual ASW itinerary. but who knows
