I am considering GW law. They have offerred 30k/yr and free Aston apartment for 1st year. I plan on attending the April 4 preview. I am waiting on word from Geotwn. If they make same type of offer I may go there. Not really sure how the schools compare other than ranknings which show Geotwn at 14 and GW at 22. Not sure that makes enough of a difference to turn down the GW $$$ if Geotwn doesnt offer same.

Re: GW Law School Class of '11
I went to the evening admit day.
I thought that it was very well done. In general, I was impressed with my fellow admits - all the questions they asked were highly intelligent, and they seemed like people who were going places. Granted, this was the evening preview, so we had a ton of people who worked on the hill, for the various agencies and non-profits in DC, and not a lot of people straight out of undergrad. It didn't seem like there was an aura of competition anywhere... just ambition. I'm fine with that.
Professor Jonathan Turley was really just incredible. I don't agree with some of his political stances - he's on TV all over the place as a legal analyst, but the man really had it all together. He was the "keynote" speaker, I'd say, and for good reason.
The open bar was a nice touch.

Yeah, it's my best option really - it's just 4 metro stops from where I live/work, it has national reach, it's very strong in IP law (which I'm considering), and it has an evening program. Don't think it gets much better than that.
If I had gone and everyone was a bunch of tools, I'd be considering Mason right now, but everyone was pretty awesome.

I'm going to GW if I don't get off UVA's waitlist...
Does anybody know if/when GW will be offering more scholarships, since a lot of people that received them in the first round have withdrawn?

The flash drive is pretty cool. Does anyone know how to check our GW e-mail? I don't see anything in the web portal.

The Aston is being renovated, so I heard it wasn't open until August.
Can anyone shed more light on GW's grading system?

I put up pictures from the inside of the Aston in an album for the GW Facebook group. You can see it there...

Re: GW Law School Class of '11
another 99%er here haha. I still have a cornell wl i'm waiting for a decision on but i heard they're actually over the size limit because of the # of people who already accepted so i'm not holding my breath. I have a good friend at gtown so i plan to live off campus with him and and another friend who works in the area.
I did find it interesting that the dean talked about how there wasn't that same sense of collegiality where he went to law school, so I looked up his profile. Williams and then yale law haha. Yeaaah i'm pretty sure most of us would be juuuuuust fine with dealing with some pretentious individuals to not have to worry about grades for 3 years!
Honestly, i think it's gotta be kind of exciting to be in dc especially around election time and i'm a political news junkie haha. To be right in the fray seems like it would be pretty fun!

Heh, Professor Abramowicz said something similar during one of the breakout sessions on the preview day and he's an Amherst B.A Yale J.D.
The school did seem pretty friendly though and certain events that were mentioned, "thirsty Thursday's", "deans in jeans day", etc made it feel more "collegial".
It was a bit strange on preview day, however, with all the prof's and deans who went to Harvard and Yale trying to convince you how great GWU is....
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
