Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2011
How are you guys submitting your immunization screening certificates? I faxed mine over...is that an acceptable way to do it? It took three tries for their fax line to respond, and when I called to confirm receipt, there was no answer. Now I feel sketched out. But I'm afraid if I mail it today, it won't get there by 7/1 and I'll get charged $100 or whatever.

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2011
i just mailed the form today. hopefully it gets there by july 1st. nyc to dc ... seems reasonable. i'm not going to stress it out though b/c i was a late admittee (off the waitlist), and i'll try to use that as an excuse if they try to make me pay the extra $scoutfinch80 wrote:How are you guys submitting your immunization screening certificates? Anyone have an opinion on Senate Square apartments? Their 2 months free looks tough to pass on right now. Any reason I should avoid it?

Also, what is the parking situation in the GULC area?

Rochester:
I checked out Senate Square's webpage and didn't find anything on a "2 month for free" deal, but it must be true since $1700 for a studio is a bit much.
For DC natives: What areas are within 20 minute walking distance to GULC? I've been commuting for 5 years now and I'm totally sick of it.

Go go Capitol Hill. The H street area is also nice and nearby. If you're loaded-- Penn quarter.

Two quick questions:
Is GULC a Direct Lender?
Is GULC able to get any extra incentives for students going through preferred lenders?

I don't think so.Is GULC a Direct Lender?
Not that I know of. There is a lender comparison chart on the GULC website. Is GULC able to get any extra incentives for students going through preferred lenders?

Do you have any suggestions for GradPlus lenders? I'm leaning toward T.H.E., but I'm not even sure if they are still available.

How's Brookland? 13th by Providence Hospital? How long of a commute and is it safe?

Re: Georgetown Law Class of 2011
Brookland isn't bad. It's an interesting neighborhood and very residential. I don't personally know the area around Providence, but the Post's crime map indicates very little activity: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/lo ... index.html
On the other hand, probably a pretty long commute. You're quite a hike from a metro (although the red line is good for getting to Union Station) and the buses are...hard to rely upon. I used to take the bus and walk to work across the street from GULC (which could take up to 45 minutes) and after six months I am absolultely delighted to be within walking distance, instead. That said, if you're within walking distance of the Metro, you'll be fine.
(ETA: ok, the Journey Planner recommends either catching the bus to the Metro or taking the bus straight down here (and the 80 does stop RIGHT outside the Law Center), which will take 35 minutes at a non-rush hour time.)

I just got in today-- since I'm getting filled in on how things work at GULC, do we need to pick our curriculum (A/B) before class starts? Whats the consensus on the curriculum B? It sounds a lot more engaging for the liberal-arts minded student, but might it end up making life unduly complicated during 1L?

I'm fairly certain that Curriculum B is no longer available. I was admitted of the WL and wasn't even given the option.

Some orientation questions:
Do we have to go? (Besides the registration part.)
Anyone know the dress code for orientation?
Also, what's "service projects"?

I was off the W/L, too, but not so recently. As far as I can guess, they're taking the people who were on the Curriculum B waitlist off as spots open up (there was a lottery and the anecdotal evidence is that LOT of people didn't get it) and the late people are probably automatically in the regular curriculum.
It sounds like a lot of the seminars aren't exactly optional, but I'm sure some of the social stuff is and the faculty tours.
The service projects are a chance to do something good and get to know your new classmates.
And I, sadly, have no idea about the dress code.

Does anyone have any idea if the exam software used (if one is used) requires running windows? I have a mac and want to install it as soon as possible. Additionally, I know we have received our sections, but we have not received our small sections does this mean that we are unable to determine what books we should buy before we get there?

What do you guys think is an approximate cutoff for parents annual income at which a student will most likely not receive any grant aid? (not talking about loans)

They said if you got a Pell grant as an undergrad, there was a good chance you'd qualify for grant aid as a law student. They said it was too hard to give any sort of numerical income cutoff because of differing family sizes and other extraneous factors.
